Welcome to PowerWindows 2.5!
We now have a support BBS online 24 or so hours a day at (214) 241-4225.
Just call and log in. There is not much on it so far; please help us
change that. It is meant to be both an UL/DL and message facility for
information exchange and exchanges of example .pw files or whatever.
Support for other INOVATRONICS products is also available.
First, if you want to convert any PW1.x files to the PW2.5 format, you can
run "Convert". This will bring up a file-requester that repeatedly asks you
to specify a file to load, and then lets you save the converted file. To
stop Converting, just press CANCEL on the file-requester. You can easily
Convert several files in a few seconds. Overwrite the original files if you
like, but I would suggest retaining a backup in case something goes wrong
with the Conversion, like a disk-full error. The Converted file will be
larger than the original file.
PowerWindows 2.0 files are completely compatible with PW2.5. However, you
may notice some small differences and you may need to make some minor
corrections. These differences are as follows:
1) The PW2.5 MenuItem spacing methods have been adjusted to fix a
bug in the way 2.0 worked. This bug left a blank pixel line
between MenuItems which meant that while moving the mouse you
could have NO item selected. This caused SubItem lists to
flicker. The blank line has now been removed.
2) The standard borders for gadgets made with PW2.0 were offset from
the gadgets incorrectly so that there were areas of blankness
between the borders and the gadget hitboxes. When 2.0 gadgets
are read by 2.5, they are moved 2 pixels left and their hitboxes
are increased in width by 3 pixels. If you are using your own
render in place of the standard border, you may want to adjust
the gadgets. This can be done very easily with the
"DefineGadgetType" command: just select the gadget to adjust and
decrement the Width by 3 and increment the LeftEdge by 2.
3) All gadget relativity flags are now WYSIWYG. So PW2.5 makes
adjustments to all 2.0 gadget dimensions as it reads them in.
This can result, of course, in negative dimensions.
The manual you have gotten is a generic usage guide to the interactive
aspects of PowerWindows 2.5. It doesn't cover the nitty-gritty of
interfacing with any particular language. That's because we support
a growing family of languages. In the planning stages are code-generators
for AC/FORTRAN, J-Forth and M2Amiga.
You will find a README file in of the subdirectories on this disk for each
individual language, as well as example files and needed include/link files.
CODE STATUS:
All example .pw files on this disk and all code generated by PowerWindows
2.5 are NOT COPYRIGHTED by us. They are freely distributable, unless YOU
decide otherwise. The PW2.5demo program is also PD. Please distribute it
far and wide.
